Mike at work
I was born in 1963, though a native of Yorkshire, now live in Cumbria. I have always been interested in art but cannot recall when the photographic bug first bit me. Though I use digital cameras more and more I still return to the traditional film camera for some elements of my work.
The vast majority of my work is shot on three hard working Leica cameras, one of which has a digital back attached to it, a Mamiya 645 medium format camera and a Canon EOS5 D mark 1. Whatever you choose it's the end result that matters.
My philosophy..."A passion for the world around me and all life within"
We cannot get away from the fact that over millions of years the third rock from the Sun, namely The Earth, has experienced many violent natural events and in more recent times, a few hundred years the hand of Man has help sculpt the landscape now familiar to us. As well as showing a glimpse of that familiar landscape with new eyes, I wish to convey to you the changing nature around us.
A simple quote from Marcel Proust sums up my thoughts... " The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes".
